Cozy Cover RE-fashioned

Well here is another of my projects. A Cozy Cover re-fashioned from a girlie PINK, to an adorable BLUE polka dotted fabric! (Shown below.)

One day while I was out thrifting for some good buys on new(to me) baby boy items... I stumbled upon this cute little pink Cozy Cover. Now, I love pink to pieces because of my first child being the girliest girl any little girl can be but THIS TIME AROUND... I was heading more towards mud, trucks and the color blue... NOT pink! BUT, ONE WHOLE DOLLAR at the Yard Sale Shoppe was way to cheap to pass up! Besides, I'm such a craftaholic-fabric hoarding-sewing gizmo weilding junkie that I already had everything else that I needed at home to RE-fashion that cute little thing!

So,... confusing as it was to my little girl who knew we were having a boy, but SOO wanted a little sister... I purchased the little pink carseat cozy with hopes to re-fashion it into something my little boy would be proud to ride with style in.

And this is what came of my hours of ripping seams apart, tearing velcro out, uninstalling pink zippers/fabric and worn out elastic. Pretty cute, huh? Well I thought so and my lil guy has been snuggly warm this whole winter and never had a drop of rain grace his sweet little face. :)

(above: Re-fashioned Cozy Cover. NO pink here! The only piece left of the pink Cozy Cover is the sherpa interior. The rest was basically used for a pattern. NOT BAD for just a dollar!! Sherpa, a pattern and a cool new ride for my little guy!)

Family Hands Photo

Recently, I had run across a really cute idea that consisted of a grouping of a family's hands and thought it was adorable. So I decided it would be a great gift idea.

I traced around each family members hands and then used that as my template in case I wasn't sure what color hand prints I would want. (My children are like worms in hot ash...they don't want to sit still long enough to keep tracing their wee little hands.)

I then placed each hand in an arrangment that suited me and glued them into place and wrote the date and slapped that puppy in a frame! I love it! Sweet as pie, a family keepsake and didn't cost a fortune! I think it turned out lovely.

(I decided to write the children's ages though, because as we all know... those hands won't be that small forever.)

Cloth Diapers from Old T-Shirtrs

Hello Everyone,

Late last year I had been trying to get back to my sewing and just couldn't seem to get motivated. I had spent the entire first part of the year EXTREMELY pregnant and very sick. So it was only natural for me to want to get out of that sicky-pooey funk and get back to what I loved doing. Then there it was... little cloth baby diapers, a perfect project for me to start on.

My lil guy wasn't even born yet but I was feeling better and they served a great purpose... motivation and once my lil Brahm was to be born they would come in very useful. They turned out really well and super cute!

The particular diapers shown are made from our Old Navy tees that we could no longer wear because of being too small or stained, etc. So not only were they useful to us but they were a great recycling project. Recycles old clothing, saves me money and helps the Earth be rid of not one but TWO items... old clothing and yucky diapers... for me, that's equal to.... AWESOME!!

Fern and Faerie has another really great tutorial. "Fast 'n Friendly Fitteds" They have a great set of sizing guides. Then once you have your sizes, etc. You can round the edges and make diapers that have a softer look to them.

New Blog for my not so Prim items

Hello Everyone,

I have been working on so many things lately and not many of them were prim, country or folk art in nature. So I have decided to start another blog just for those items. I haven't STOPPED making my oh so wonderful prim goodies. I have just been more focused on my kiddos and being a Momma again with my newest edition finally here. Prim decore has just not been in my mind as much with all of the cute things I have been finding to make for my little girl and baby boy lately. So this blog will be devoted to all things ....UN-primy... so that everyone can still follow along with all of the goodies that I have been making. There will be fashion re-makes, jewelry tutes, lil loads of fun finds for the little ones to play with and more! A lot of the items that I post will be my own and some others that require credit to another blogger will be here as well. If there are any that do not belong to me... I will provide proper links to the original blogger. So be sure to check them out as well!

Don't fret though, Momma will still occasionally put on her business gear and dive into a big batch of that rusty, grubby, grungy, antique-y, cinna-smelly...stuff that everyone loves and craves!!
